Bernadette Peters

 

Bernadette (nee Lazzara) Peters is an American actor and singer. In her career of six decades she has been on TV, in film and in musical theatre. She also gave concert performances on her own as well as recorded. She is a highly respected Broadway performer. She has earned seven Tony Awards nominations (plus an honorary award) along with nine Drama Desk Award nominations. Grammy Awards were won for four of her Broadway role.



 



 Peters is widely considered to be the most well-known interpreter of the work of Stephen Sondheim. Her roles on Broadway include Mack and Mabel (1974), Sunday in the Park with George (84), Song and Dance (1985), Into the Woods with George (87) and The Goodbye Girl(93), Annie Get Your Gun 1999), Gypsy (2003), A Little Night Music (2009), Follies (2011), as well as Hello, Dolly (2018).
